In the past anyone has been able to obtain a death certificate without cause of death by proper application. The DCH rule that allows this is in conflict with State law and State law supersedes DCH rule. In order to obtain a certified copy of a death certificate you must provide the appropriate fee and a signed request that includes the following information:
| Search fee (includes one certified copy if record is found on file) | $25.00 |
| Additional certified copies of same record ordered at the same time | $5.00 |
When requesting a certificate by mail, you may pay by money order made payable to Cobb Public Health. Do not send cash in the mail.
When requesting a birth certificate in person, you may pay by money order, credit card (MC and Visa only), debit card, or cash.
Georgia law requires that a search fee be received before a certified copy of a death certificate can be issued.
Payment of the fee is necessary at the time of service and search fees are non-refundable.
